Ladoga Oct. 2 - This morning half an hour after midnight Alexander
ROGERS, one of the aged citizens of this place passed away after an illness
which continued for a period of two years. He was confined to his bed for
about a year. His death was due to infirmities of advanced years, the direct
cause assigned being hardening of the arteries.

cause assigned being hardening of the arteries.
Mr. ROGERS has been a respected resident of Ladoga and vicinity for
many years. He was born in Virginia on April 25, 1824, and was therefore
eighty-eight years old. At an early age in life he united with Miss
Catherine JAMES. She has been dead for many years. To the first union nine
children were born, four of whom are now dead. For a second wife he married
Ellen WEYCUP in 1880 and to them one child, Mrs. Edna MORPHEW, who resides
with her parents was born. Besides the widow five children by his first wife
survive, the are Kyle ROGERS, New Market; Samuel ROGERS, Lebanon; Robert
ROGERS, New Ross; Mrs. Mary KERNODLE, Jamestown, and Mrs. Allie WILLIAMS,
who resides in Florida.
Mr. ROGERS lived with his family on the farm now occupied by Rev.
SMITH, north of this place, when he first located in Clark township, but for
many years he has lived a retired life in this place. The funeral will take
place at the home on Thursday afternoon at half-past one and will be
conducted by Rev. W.R. HARSHBARGER. Internment will be in the Harshbarger
Cemetery.
